"Hasn't it changed?"

Tetbury & District Through Time (Book)

A new book seeks to shine a light on Tetbury's history and using around 180 pictures, illustrates how the town has changed through time.

Tetbury & District Through Time is the latest book from Lynne Cleaver, who runs the Tetbury Families website.

In it, she notes that while Tetbury has been closely associated with the wool trade, the outlying villages were more traditionally agricultural, prey to the changing seasons.

Lynne explains how many of Tetbury's buildings were at the height of taste in their day, built on the back of the wealth accumulated from the wool trade.

About Lynne

On leaving school, Lynne Cleaver started work at Scarborough library,
where she took charge of the Reference & Local Studies department. After
a career break Lynne took a job at Cheltenham Library, where she worked
primarily in the Local History Department.

The move enabled research into her husband Nigel’s Tetbury family roots,
which inspired further research into Tetbury’s local history. She undertakes private research for those unable to do their own, and is studying for the Certificate in Genealogy with the Institute of Heraldic & Genealogical Studies, Canterbury.

The book is available to buy in Tetbury's bookshops or online here.
